Speed up your site
Our themes are optimized for speed, but slow hosting, heavy images and extra plugins can still slow a site down. Four things make the biggest difference.
1. Hosting
Choose a WordPress-friendly hosting provider close to your visitors. A good host takes extra measures to speed up WordPress — this is the base everything else builds on.
2. Optimized images
Large images are the most common reason for slow pages. Compress them before uploading with Squoosh or TinyJPG, or let a plugin do it on upload: Smush or reSmush.it.
3. CDN
Visitors far from your server load the site slower. A CDN serves files from servers near them. The Media Cloud plugin moves your media to Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage or DigitalOcean Spaces.
4. Caching
WordPress builds each page on every visit. A caching plugin saves ready pages and can make the site several times faster. We recommend the free Hummingbird plugin.
After updating the theme or plugins, clear the cache — see Changes don’t show up.
