Build a grid layout

Updated 2 min read 3 views

A Grid Layout is edited like a post. The sidebar holds its settings in sections; the canvas shows the grid with your real items. The device switch at the top of the sidebar (desktop, tablet, mobile) changes both the preview width and which values you edit, for every per-device setting.

Content

  • Source: Portfolio, Posts, Pages, any public post type, or Media (images you pick).
  • Specific items: show only these. Sort by Selection order to keep the order you picked them in.
  • Exclude items: leave these out.
  • Search: only items that match these words.
  • Terms: limit to categories, tags or any taxonomy of the source. Match terms of: any taxonomy (OR) or every taxonomy (AND).

Only published items are ever shown. With the Media source, click an image to set its title, description, link and categories for this layout only (empty fields use the Media Library). These categories work as filter terms.

Order & limit

  • Order by: date, selection order, last modified, title, ID, menu order, comment count or random. For Media: selection order, upload date, title or random. Order: descending or ascending.
  • Per page: 1–100, or -1 for all items (no pagination then).
  • Offset: skips the first items of the whole result once; pages start after them.

Random order stays the same while a visitor pages through the grid, so no item shows up twice.
